Berne is home to about 4200 residents, and is located in Adams County, Indiana. The City of Berne was named for the capital of Switzerland.
The City of Berne is also known to be the "Furniture Capital of Indiana".

Welcome to our friendly Swiss community which was settled by Swiss Mennonites nearly 150 years ago, in 1852. The Swiss settlers were known for their quality craftsmanship and legendary work ethic. Berne is located in northeastern Indiana, 35 miles south of Ft. Wayne and 110 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

Here you will find a simple, easier way of life. Although Berne has it's share of tourists, it has managed to preserve the traditions of its early settlers. In fact, many residents of Berne have roots here that date back over 150 years.
